The impact you'll make

Responsibilities may include a combination of the following: Hardware Development: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of a hardware development function for electronic design, mechanical design and/or hardware reliability. Software Development: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of a software development function for software systems, applications and/or software quality assurance. Systems Design: Directs, leads, and manages the technical activities of an integrated hardware/software systems design function.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on concept development and feasibility assessment of next-generation semiconductor technologies and products.
• Define and drive the strategic technology roadmap for concept and feasibility initiatives, aligning engineering activities with business objectives and future market requirements.
• Foster innovation by promoting creative problem-solving, technical excellence, and the exploration of novel engineering approaches.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with product engineering, systems engineering, process engineering, sourcing, quality, and external partners to ensure successful technology maturation.
• Communicate technical strategies, development progress, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, research institutions, and industry partners to support innovation and technology advancement.
• Manage team performance, workforce planning, resource allocation, talent development, and succession planning.
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, collaboration, and engineering excellence.

Who we're looking for

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience in concept development and concept testing.
• Previous experience leading technical teams, projects, or engineering organizations.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or another highly regulated high-technology environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering teams within semiconductor equipment development.
• Experience in organizational development, coaching, mentoring, and talent management.
• Familiarity with project portfolio management and resource planning

What We're Offering

This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry (https://www.metalltechnischeindustrie.at/fileadmin/content/Dokumente/Kollektivvertrag/KV-2025_2026/FMTI_Mindesgehaltstabelle_2025.pdf) in occupation group H. A higher payment is negotiable depending on education, expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.
